MICHAEL L. WETZEL, P.E., PRESIDENT AND CEO

Mike has been president and CEO of Air Innovations (AI) since 1996, when he and his father, Larry Wetzel, purchased the company. Before acquiring Air Innovations, Mike worked four years in Europe for a global cleanroom systems company. Prior to that he worked stateside for HVAC and construction management companies. Mike holds six U.S. patents, is a New York State licensed professional engineer, and is a graduate of Clarkson University. In 2005, Mike was the recipient of a "40 Under 40" award, being named one of Central New York's most promising young business leaders.

During Mike's tenure, AI has been awarded several product development and research grants from such organizations as New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, Center of Excellence for Environmental and Energy Systems, and New York State Indoor Environmental Center. The company strongly believes in developing alliances with local universities and other organizations that can help foster the development of certain technologies, which AI then incorporates into solutions for its clients. In 2007, the CNY Business Journal selected Air Innovations as one of its five top businesses of the year and the company was recognized for the "Best Use of Technology."
